Did you always want to be an author?
I didn’t actually. I’m a Chemical Engineer by degree, so after I took AP English in high school, I didn’t write another word (aside from lab reports…bleh) until I graduated college. Graduating made me think about what I wanted to do with my ‘free time’. I’d always had stories in my head, so I Googled, “How to get a book published.” And now I find myself here, about two years later.
Tell us a bit about your book.
Here’s the blurb :)
Wind tunnels, torrential rains and earthquakes tear apart Casden. The cause of the world’s imbalance is unknown, but the mounting occurrences suggest there’s little time before life ceases to exist.
Rydan Gale and Akara Nazreth are the only humans with the ability to wield magic. The tattoo on their necks and the discovery of an ancient book, dictate they are the key to the world’s survival.
But the greatest obstacle for saving mankind isn’t the bizarre creatures, extreme betrayals and magic-fearing men hunting them.
It’s that Akara doesn’t believe the world is worth saving.

Where do you like to do your writing?
I like to do my writing…well, anywhere really. For my day job, I travel quite a bit. So a lot of my writing is done in airports, airplanes, hotel rooms, etc. I have a good friend that lives near me and we have ‘our Starbucks’. I basically can’t write with silence. As long as there’s at least some background noise, I’m good to go.
Can you tell us a bit about your writing process?
I’m a complete ‘panster’. (A person who writes by the seat of their pants without any idea where the story is going.) I don’t outline. (I’ve tried it and I get to bullet point one, and then everything veers off the path.) I’m as excited and in the dark as the reader is when I write my first drafts. I’m also a pretty fast writer. I can get my first drafts written in less than three weeks. (My shortest ever was actually FRACTION OF STONE which took ten days to write.)
Do you have any current projects on the go? Can you tell us a bit about them?
I do actually! My collab author, Jenny S. Morris, and I just sold our Young Adult Contemporary, ROAD TO SOMEWHERE, to Bloomsbury Spark. We’re totally thrilled. The release date is set for January 2014. I’m editing another collab (YA Fairytale Retelling), as well as a solo project (YA Thriller). There are a few that are on submission through my agent as well.
And then of course, I’m working on the next story in THE FRACTION SERIES.
Thanks so much for having me Angela!
