Moving Forward

Today I spent almost three hours getting my butt in gear and using Createspace.com to create a proof copy of Songbird.  No, I haven't given up hope that I'll meet that perfect agent, nor am I self-publishing, but I needed something to motivate me in the next step of the process for Songbird.  I need to query more.  I've sent out a total of nine queries and had four rejections so far.  I can't keep waiting, but it just seems surreal. I continually doubt whether I'll ever get an agent, much less get published.  So I am now anxiously awaiting my proof copy so that I can actually see my name in print.  The picture above is what the front and back cover will look like.  If you've had the opportunity to read Songbird you'll probably understand why I chose  a swing instead of a bird for the cover.

As for how good Createspace is, well that remains to be seen.  Once I hold my book in my hands, I'm hoping I'll be able to say they're fantastic :)  Once I get it in the mail I'll take a better picture.

  1. Love the new look of the blog, Ang! It's fantastic. I can't really see the cover very well, though. Is there a way to blow it up? or zoom in? Can't wait to hear how you like the proof copy!

Oh, and my sister's first dance with her husband was to "I'm Your's" by Jason Mraz. Great song.

  2. Thanks Rach! It can't go any bigger since it was thumb nail size when I copied it but I'm going to go back to the site and see if I can get a bigger image.

  3. I understand. I think it's pretty cool that you can print out the whole thing like that. It would help motivate me to see my work like that. Hope it does push you to continue submitting.

  5. Love the picture of the swing--very fitting. And I can definitely understand why you'd want a copy in print. Just don't give up on the agent thing. It will happen. At least I have to believe it will happen if we try hard enough.

  6. Your blog is looking beautiful, and so is that cover!

CreateSpace prints a book copy for you free, doesn't it - if you finished 2009 Nano? Too bad I didn't finish this year!! I'm more than half done now though. Still plugging away. :)

Having a copy in your hands makes so much sense to met too!

  7. The Nano discount is how I ended up getting this. It included the free prrof copy and free shipping. Really though it's not that expensive - it probably would have cost me about $15 for it otherwise.
